You're doing everything right and still waking at 3am. Here's why magnesium might be what's missing.

There is a version of bad sleep that doesn't get talked about as much as insomnia. You fall asleep fine. You just don't stay there. Something wakes you at 3am or 4am, not a sound, not a notification, just your body surfacing into consciousness without explanation. Why Are South Asian Women More Likely to Be Low in Magnesium?

Two intersecting reasons, and both are worth understanding.

First: modern food supply. Soil depletion over the past several decades has significantly reduced the magnesium content of many common foods. Whole grains, leafy greens, nuts, and legumes are the best dietary sources of magnesium. But modern agricultural practices have changed what those foods contain compared to a generation ago.
